lofi ho – Now You’re Here

by | Feb 16, 2018 | Song of the Day

“Now You’re Here” starts off with a classic, catchy piano hook and… Well, that’s pretty much the entire song. But it’s a good riff with a Todd Rundgrenesque quality. And at two-minutes forty-eight seconds, it’s just six seconds over the magic 2:42 that marks the length of the Perfect Pop Song.

lofi ho is Donovanne Jocas of Oberlin, Ohio. She describes herself as a “trans gurl makin rad tunes in various styles in my lonely dorm room.” She describes her music as “stereotypical lofi scum” which seems a bit harsh. I can see “Now You’re Here” showing up in the soundtrack of a movie, one of those songs that jumps into the foreground for about sixteen bars and then fades into the atmosphere as if the viewer has walked into another room and left the radio playing on the kitchen counter.

Update: lofi ho is now known as Veronica Voyeur. We applaud the name change. Change is Good.

I enjoyed “Now You’re Here.” Check out more of Veronica Voyeur’s work on her Bandcamp page, and on Soundcloud.
